From Craftsmanship to New Opportunities: Madina Qobulova’s Story within the DIANA Project

Within the framework of the DIANA project — “Empowering Women through the Development and Implementation of Entrepreneurship in Rural Tourism in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan”, implemented with the support of the European Union’s Erasmus+ Programme, the Regional Centre for Socio-Economic Development “SABR” organized a series of informational and consultation meetings with women entrepreneurs and representatives of rural communities. Particular attention was given to women’s entrepreneurship, rural tourism, handicrafts, and the creation of new income-generating opportunities for women in the regions.

One of the participants was Madina Qobulova from Oqdaryo District. Since childhood, she has been interested in making traditional dolls, and over time she transformed her skills into a small entrepreneurial activity. Today, her products are in demand, including among kindergartens.

Participation in the meetings organized within the DIANA project helped Madina look at her craft from a new perspective. She recognized the potential of traditional dolls not only as products for the local market, but also as authentic tourist souvenirs that reflect the culture and traditions of the region.

In the future, Madina plans to expand her business and connect the production of traditional dolls with the development of rural tourism. Her story demonstrates how traditional skills, support, and new knowledge can become a foundation for sustainable women’s entrepreneurship and an additional source of family income.

The DIANA project opens new opportunities for women to transform local traditions, handicrafts, and their own talents into real entrepreneurial initiatives.
